What's this all about, then? Take a look at the shady border on the main body and the small sample box in the left column. Making the images for this effect can be a real pain, because you need to use image editing software like Photoshop, and even then you need to know what tools and what settings to use. NO MORE.

To give you an idea, below are 8 images (all enlarged three times to make them easier to see) that would be used for a box with white inner background, white external background, and black border.

To make your own shady border images, you need to be sure of the colors you want to use, then enter them in the form below and press the Show Me button. Make sure you use the three or six digit hex format, web safe colors or rgb colors [in the normal css form - rgb(123,123,123)]. All colors entered will be converted to six digit hex. If you make an error, the default black/white colors will be used without warning!

To save the images you have made, right click each of the 8 images above and save to your own system. I suggest you give them more sensible names! Note: the files are 16.7m color PNG format (compatible with IE6 and earlier). You can reduce these in size (often by more than half) if you convert them to gif (no transparent background, optimixed octet color palette). Unfortunately, the PHP GD library used to make these images does not support this GIF palette option and thus loses some colors and the images look poor, which is why I haven't used GIF's.
